Traditional Palestinian Thobe

Traditional Palestinian Thobe

Perhaps the most iconic and traditional piece of clothing worn by Palestinian women, the Thobe remains a symbol of heritage and identity. These dresses are intricately embroidered, often by the women who wear them, with each region in Palestine having its distinct embroidery patterns.

For example, the Naqab’s Thobe features unique embroidery and distinctive long, wing-like sleeves. These sleeves were traditionally tied at the back while working to allow easier movement. They could also serve practical purposes, such as carrying a child, holding small items while running errands, or even covering the face modestly in public.

In the Hebron Mountain region and Bethlehem, delicate and artistic stitches define the embroidery, showcasing the craftsmanship and cultural significance passed down through generations.

Each Thobe in our collection is hand-stitched and one-of-a-kind, with ages ranging from 50 to 80 years old.
